Misty Mountains is a 130 kilometre network of short walks and long-distance hiking trails, rewarding bushwalkers with attractive waterfalls, lush rainforest and panoramic views. Several of the tracks follow ridgelines traditionally used by Aboriginal people travelling between 'yabulmbara', the coastal plain, and 'gambilbara', the rocky country of the tablelands. Take a day walk and enjoy local beauty spots such as Walters Waterhole, where a chain of waterfalls drops into the wide, calm pools of Koolmoon Creek. Experienced bushwalkers can choose from five different two to four day hikes. Look for king ferns, epiphytes and giant strangler figs, which feature throughout the area.
